Hi everyone, and a happy new year to you all!

During the “off season” the we are always thinking about how we can better the experience of our guests.

We are drafting and making plans to make various different types of individual and group shelters that satellite around our training centre.

All materials will be sourced from the woodland, and structures built in ways that they will, over time, be reclaimed by the forest.

If you’re interested in getting involved with a build like this, then please have a look at our Woodland Wild Camping weekend events.

Happy bank holiday weekend! We hope that you’ve all had a good break.

We have had a great weekend out in the May Hill Woodlands. We have had an Ultimate Bushcraft Course along with some wild campers!

Our course participants learned all about natural tinders and fire lighting in a wide range of methods, including friction fire and traditional flint and steel.

We then went for a woodland walk, and talked about different trees, and their uses, before starting to make a shelter, which then became home for the night.

Everyone then came together to learn how to dress and prepare a fresh trout, before splaying it and cooking it over our communal camp fire. The accompanying elements of our evening meat was beautifully prepared by our resident woodland chef Matt, cooking us some jacket potatoes with an absolutely amazing sausage and bean casserole!

After breakfast on Sunday morning we…

Our latest Ultimate Bushcraft Course was a huge success!

We started off with an in depth talk about knife use, knife safety and care, and also on different types of natural tinders, with examples to pass around the group to examine and see up close.

We moved onto shelter building where some absolutely fantastic camps were set up! We had all different types of shelter built - A frame, lean to and some “original” ones too.

We all dressed and prepared an entire trout each, where we all butterflied the meat and presented it over our own fires. We were lucky enough to have our group of wild campers join us for the game preparation workshop, making a massive group of around 20 of us altogether!! This was served with jacket potatoes, cheese, beans, salads and sauces.

Sunday was nice and relaxed, catching up on topics that people wanted to…

We were very busy this weekend out in the woods. We were lucky enough to meet Amy and Jess, who joined us for a Beginners Bushcraft Course.

We covered knife skills and care, and we covered fire lighting in some depth. We stopped for a light lunch, and we were lucky enough to be able to try some fresh “Chicken of the woods”, before some shelter building to finish off.

Thank you both so much for making our day so easy and enjoyable. As we said to you, you’re welcome back anytime!

Hey everyone! 🌿

Our Bushcraft weekend is just around the corner! How’s everyone feeling about it? Is there anything you’re still missing or need help with? I thought it might be a good idea to check in and see if we can support each other with any last-minute gear or tips.

Personally, I’m really excited to go wild swimming again—anyone else planning to take the plunge? What are you most looking forward to? Would love to hear what everyone’s excited about!

Looking forward to catching up with you all soon!
