Learn the Timeless Craft of Willow Basket Weaving with Learn Bushcraft

Step away from the rush of modern life and immerse yourself in a truly hands on, traditional craft.

Our Willow Basket Weaving Course is the perfect opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, and create something both beautiful and practical with your own hands.

Although we are planting and growing our own willow, we currently bring in carefully selected varieties of willow, each offering its own colours and unique weaving qualities. You’ll have the chance to experiment and see how different species can bring your basket to life.

Basketry is an art of patience and rhythm, and we’ll guide you step by step:

​

• Day One: Begin with the foundations; building the base of your basket. From there, you’ll set the upright rods that will form the structure and shape.
   

• Day Two: After soaking overnight, you’ll weave the basket walls, shaping it to your own design. Finally, we’ll add a rim. The finishing touch that ties it all together and makes your basket strong, tight, and ready for use.
   

By the end of the course, you’ll head home with a handcrafted basket, knowledge of an ancient skill, and the satisfaction of having created something entirely your own.

As with all of our weekend courses, they're fully catered. We’ll keep you well-fed with wholesome, freshly prepared meals: Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and lunch.

Extend your experience by camping with us onsite. While there’s no electricity or running water, you’ll have the comfort of a composting toilet and the serenity of the forest all around you.
