Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel back in time?
Join us for a day, learning how to prepare large game using Neolithic and modern tools, how to use the carcass to make different things enjoy a feast, cooked up by you, the historic woodland chef.
From the Forest to the Feast
Your Guide to the Perfect Cut
Take things right back to the beginning. Step into the Stone Age. Eat like your ancestors and. Learn to thrive.
Begin the day by having a look at some flint tools, similar to those that would have been used thousands of years ago during the Stone Age.
Then, move over to the deer where we will talk through the anatomy and start to remove the hide to expose the meat beneath.
We will all be taking it in turns to dress the carcass and to remove the meat so that we can stop for lunch. During lunch, you'll be able to cook your own venison to perfection on one of out hot stones over a campfire. Enjoy this with a pitta bread, salad and dressings whilst taking in the serenity that is the woodland.
After lunch we will look at the other elements of the carcass, the bones, tendons, hide and their uses.
As the afternoon draws to an end, we will be preparing either venison burgers or a venison stew that will be cooked over the camp fire for you to enjoy, before winding up the day in the early evening.
If you wanted to stay the night and really throw yourself into the Stone Age adventure, then we can offer camping on site. If this is for you, then please make sure you select the correct ticket when booking*.
What are you waiting for? Secure your place an adventure that you will never forget.
*If camping, then you would need to bring your own equipment and breakfast for the following morning. We do have some limited kit to lend out, so if you would like to borrow any (we don't lend out sleeping bags) then please get in touch after booking. Kit is lent out on a first come first served basis and as long as it is available.
